I put a winning (well the only!) bid in on a batch of cameras up for auction in the UK a while back. This camera was the main reason for bidding and I took it out for a spin over the past few days and I'll get the film in tomorrow to see how it and I performed. Such craftsmanship though, its so beautiful. A quick bit of research makes me think it is a Rolleicord II Type 4 or maybe 5 from around 1939. I really enjoyed shooting with this more than many of my other cameras.
Came with lens cover, shutter release cable and case too.

In the middle left you can just make out a turret. It is part of what is left of Hadleigh Castle in Essex and dates back to 1230.

There is an old lift that takes passengers up and down the hill along the seafront in Southend. If you'd rather walk (and not pay), there's some steps right next to it.
