I had spent a bit of time wandering (I do that a lot, wander) anyway, wandering around this old elevator as Cathy read her book. I guess she got tired of waiting and I noticed she was looking for me, couldn't resist a shot. Out of focus I know, but I like it.

And since there was no sound on Super 8 we added a couple of songs from the time, turn on your volume.

(I recently decided that the Super 8 and VHS movies we had in boxes needed to be digitized so that family and friends who are on them can see them before it's too late. Sadly so many of the people who are recorded on the VHS tapes are no longer here.
We are having such a great time watching them.)

A group of my close friends, one of my brothers and I were taken out to Anacapa Island by the National Park Service to do some maintenance work or whatever might be needed by the resident Ranger.
The funny thing is when we got out there he said something to the effect of "Heck boys, there ain't much for you all to do out here, but since you're here, well, have a good time!"
And that's what we did.

Here is a short description of our "Three Days on Anacapa Island"

After the approximately 15 mile boat ride out to the island the Ranger boat backed up to the small landing platform and we offloaded our camping gear. From there we were going to have to carry it up the multi level stairs to the top of the island but instead the resident ranger hoisted it up for us with his supply crane. We then carried everything to the small camping area and set up for our stay.
For the next three days we hiked around and explored the south island, watched the seals below us on the small beaches, went snorkeling, and diving and generally had a wonderful time.
It was very windy out there much of the time and after the first night the top of our tent ripped open. Since we were the only campers out there we gathered the picnic tables and created a shelter from the wind.
The views of the coast where we lived were fantastic, we could see all of the mountains and hills that we hiked and camped in from a different perspective.
I especially loved seeing the lights on the coast - Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard and all of the surrounding smaller towns. And then there was the night sky... Beautiful!
There was more of course and I cherish these times. I'm going to make copies of this and a few other of our "adventures" and give copies to those guys I can locate.
