This year for Cathy's birthday I took her horseback riding at the Circle Bar B Ranch north of Santa Barbara, California.
We spent a half day riding the trails above the ranch with our guide Randy Johnson. One of the cool things about the day was it was just the three of us. While out riding he told us many interesting stories of his life and I asked him if he would allow me to take a few photos of him back at the ranch, I thought he had an interesting face with lots of character.
He was pleased that I wanted to do that and asked if I would send him some copies as he would put them in his portfolio, and he told us he has done some acting in western movies mostly background characters but that he was working on getting some speaking parts.

I thought he looked a little bit familiar, and he told us a few of the movies he had been in and some projects coming up. (I wish I had taken some notes.)
He also mentioned working with some big name actors and helping them with their horses on set.
I hope I remember these things right; he was born in Wyoming and grew up ranching, was in the U.S.Marine Corp., spent some time as a jockey racing horses in Florida, and as mentioned has been in a few films and TV westerns... that wasn't the whole of the story but , like I said, I wish I'd taken some notes. An interesting life.

I sent him copies of all of the photos I took as well as a CD in case he wanted to make any copies, here are a few of those shots, I thought a couple were not too bad.
