Tashichhoe dzong is a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimpu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu. It has traditionally been the seat of the Druk Desi, the head of Bhutan' civil government, an office which has been combined with the kingship since the creation of the monarchy in 1907.

The main structure of the whitewashed complex is two-storied with three-storied towers at each of the four corners topped by triple-tiered golden roofs. There is also a large central tower.

It has been the seat of Bhutan's government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. West of the dzong is a small tower of Ney Khang Lhakhang which houses a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha and protective deities

Changangkha Lhakhang is an old fortress-like temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above the capital, Thimphu. It was established in the 12th century on a site chosen by Lama Phajo Drukgom Shigpo, who came from Ralung in Tibet. The central statue is Chenresig in an 11-headed, thousand-armed manifestation. There are enormous prayer wheels to spin and even the prayer books in the temple are larger in size than usual Tibetan texts.

Changangkha Lhakhang is an ancient temple situated near downtown Thimpu. The temple was built in the 12th Century on a site which was chosen by the founder of the Drukpa Lineage in Bhutan, Phajo Drukgom Shigpo.

This traditional Bhutanese temple is perched like a fortress on a ridge above central Thimphu and hums with pilgrim activity. Parents come here to get auspicious names for their newborns or blessings for their young children from the protector deity Tamdrin (to the left in the grilled inner sanctum). Children are blessed by a phurba (ritual dagger) and given a sacred thread.
