In order to get an authentic experience, we had hired a Ford Falcon (built in the period of the US-Vietnamese war), bought in Khao San Rd. music tapes with good old music which was played between 1970-75 and cruised up north.

Vietnam had opened to individual tourism in end of 1991. For many Vietnamese were Western foreigners real strangers and commonly called "Russians". Often, they were really curious to watch us.
