BR Southern Region Departmental DS1169 at Folkestone Warren PW Depot in June 1954. It is a Class '48DS' Ruston & Hornsby 4-wheel diesel-mechanical (Works No. 237923 built in 1946), of which many were supplied to British industrial users. Delivered new to the Bristol Aeroplane Company at Weston-Super-Mare, it was sold on to BR in 1948, initially being employed at Folkestone Warren but in 1962 was transferred to Yeovil Junction. Withdrawn by BR in October 1972, it ended its days at the scrapyard of George Cohen's at Cransley near Kettering.
