In 1988, the CP spun off their low density lines in Eastern Canada to Canadian Atlantic Railway, which lasted until 1994. At this time they operated a road freight out of Grand Falls, New Brunswick to CYR Junction where they got on the Canadian National Napadogan Sub to St. Leonard and I.N.R. Junction where they interchanged with the CN and BAR. Their main customer was McCain Foods at Grand Falls, which loaded frozen french fried potatoes. Today the CAR line is gone, but McCain is still in operation doing all their shipping by truck! Here, the CAR Road Switcher with RS23 8046 and 6 cars is on the CN along the St. John River between Saint Leonard and CYR Junction on May 30, 1990.
