GMRC train XR-1 is departing Bellows Falls, VT with RS-1s 405 and 401 leading the way to Rutland on an early October 1979 morning. The 405 was an original Rutland RR engine, the 401 was originally the ITC 756 purchased by the Green Mountain in 1976.

GMRC Train XR-1 is crossing the diamond with the B&M at Bellows Falls and about to cross the Connecticut River on its way to Rutland. The train is led by RS-1s 405 and 401. Note the differences in the paint scheme and lettering of the two engines. The 405 was an original Rutland Railroad engine, the 401 was originally the Illinois Terminal #756.
