The Homestead Grays club is perhaps black baseball's most storied franchise. Formed in 1912 the Grays would be in continuous operation for 38 seasons. The Grey’s disbanded in 1950, but left behind a legacy of great baseball players that paved the way for Jackie Robinson’s debut in 1947.
I am a big fan of Negro League baseball and it’s history, so this shot is my take of the unknown black ball player during these times.
This photo was inspired by a similer shot by Walter Iooss the great sports photographer.
