Erinnerungen...

For years, Frank has been working on a wonderful nighttime series and on a few evenings, when we left White Sands NP after dark, we did some nighttime photography in Alamogordo where we were staying. It was really fun! Here are a few images from our outings - this one being one of the wonderful gas stations we photographed, but you should really check out Frank's full series, especially his gas stations to see some great nighttime images.

Back in October, I took a trip to White Sands National Park in New Mexico, USA with my Flickr friend (and real friend!) Frank Loose. You can say all kinds of horrible things about social media - and you'd be right - but it can (and Flickr, in particular, can) be an amazing way to connect you with people with shared interests. Frank and I connected over ten years ago on Flickr and have become fast friends since then. We've been talking for years about doing a photo trip together and we finally did it in October this year when we travelled to New Mexico to photograph White Sands. This scene belays the bitterly cold conditions we endured in a biting wind to get this shot. Eskdale Needle forms the centrepiece of this image with the Scafell range of mountains providing the backdrop.

The weather went downhill soon after we took this, but we hung around until dusk hoping to get a bit of late light, only to be disappointed as once again the forecast proved to be wrong.
