Kewaunee, Wisconsin, Lake Michigan, USA. There have been thousands of shipwrecks in Lake Michigan alone. Frozen harbors and channel entrances make navigation very hazardous.

This photo was taken at the intersection of River Drive and Perry Street in Davenport Iowa looking a little east of north. These barriers are the kind of barriers whose failure flash flooded the downtown this year. Where I stood taking the shot would have been about 6-8 feet deep during the flood.
During the "great flood" of 1993 I lived in the light colored building third from right . We only had sandbag levees in '93 which failed by being overtopped. The building I lived in was the only building on the block that did not get flooded, but the building was surrounded by water. We had some boards making a gangway to get over to dry land. In '93 the flood forced all the rats out of the sewers - those river rats were bold and big as cats!
I hope the caption is correct - in '93 we had a bad spring flood, but the great flood was in July.
