Launched at the 2005 Dubai Motor Show and aimed at wealthy desert dwellers. Created using the U500 as a base and built in conjunction with tuning company Brabus. Presented as a recreation vehicle, the interior is fully leather trimmed and has carbon fibre inserts. It differs from the standard U500 in having a new bumper, body with roll bar and a set of fog lamps.
Its 6400cc six cylinder diesel engine develops 286 bhp and 1120 Nm of torque. The U500 Black Edition is equipped with Automatic tansmission with 16 forward and 14 backward speeds. It also has a pressure control system for the tyres.
Standard equipment includes a Command System with a 6.5 inch screen from the Mercedes S class, DVD Navigation System, built in sub woofer, carpet on the floor,and alcantara roof material
