Davrian was the creation of Adrian Evans, a structural engineer and designer of the cars, from 1965, with co-designer and former Ferrari Formula One driver Mike Parkes. the Davrian used a 875 or 998 cc (53.4 or 60.9 cu in) aluminium alloy Hillman Imp engine based on the Coventry Climax.
In 1967, the design had settled to a 2-seat glass fibre monocoque coupé, officially called the Davrian Demon or Davrian Imp and series production started with a company being formed called Davrian Developments.based in North Street, Clapham, London, from 1965 to 1976 before relocating to to Tregaron, Dyfed, Wales in 1976 and to Lampeter also in Dyfed 1976-83. .
The cars were sold in kit form. A variety of power units were offered including Mini (for mid-mounting), the Type 1(for rear mounting) and Ford Fiesta, with cars weighing around 4cwt (448 lbs). Over the years a series of improvements led the cars to go through Marks I to 8. They proved very popular in amateur hands as rally and circuit racing cars. In 1980 the Mk8 was offered as a complete car called the Davrian Dragon. This was mid-engined and used Ford Fiesta components and engine. The company was insufficiently capitalised for this operation, and went into receivership in 1983
The rights to the Dragon were purchased by Will Cory who resumed production in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, with the body restyled by Tony Stevens. and the name changed to the Cory Cultra Ford engines and were used and the suspension was based on that of the Mk III Cortina. The cars were mostly sold for competition use, but a few road-going versions were made.
The Davrian was revived in 1986 The body was considerably modified and the car became mid-engined. Like the Davrian, the Darrian is built using a glass-fibre composite monocoque body construction. The engine was usually from a Ford, but the Rover V8 or Vauxhall 16-valve units were options.
In 1996, Swansea Institute Team Darrian (SITD) took outright honours in the Privilege Insurance British GT Championship. The company also built a limited number of replica Alpine A110s known as the Monte Carlo MC220 Berlinette. Now based in Llangybi, near Lampeter and owned by Tim Duffee, Darrians continue to be built and raced with great success, performing many giant-killing acts. The current model is the Darrian T90GTR, usually fitted with the Millington 2.5 16v 4-cylinder racing engine producing 300BHP, mated to a Hewland tranaxle.

Davrian Developements Ltd. was founded 1967 by partners David Clarke and Adrian Evans (Dav-Rian at 65 North Street, Clapham in London.Adrian Evans (d. 1992), a structural engineer and the car's designer, built a series of cars called Davrian from 1965, based on components from the Hillman Imp, including the front and rear suspension, the 875 or 998 cc aluminium alloy Hillman Imp engine which was Coventry Climax based.
From 1967 the design had settled to a 2-seat glass fibre monocoque coupé, officially called the Davrian Imp and series production started with a company being formed called Davrian Developments. The cars were sold in kit form. Over time, a variety of power units were offered including the Mini-engined Davrian Demon (mid-mounted), Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 (rear-mounted),[1] Renault (rear-mounted) and Ford Fiesta (mid-mounted). The car weighed in at 4 cwt (448 lb (203 kg). Over the years, a series of improvements led the cars to go through Marks 1 to 8. They proved very popular in amateur hands as rally and circuit racing cars.
The company was always finacially precarious and in 1976 they relocated to Tregaron, Dyfed, Wales and moved again in 1980 to Lampeter, Dyfed,
In 1980, the Mk8 was offered as a complete car called the Davrian Dragon. This was mid-engined and used Ford Fiesta components and engine. The company was insufficiently capitalised for this operation, and went into receivership in 198
The rights to the Dragon were bought by Will Corry and production transferred to Lisburn, Northern Ireland, to be built by the newly founded Corry Car Company, with a body restyled by Tony Stevens and the name changed to Cotty Cultra The cars were mostly sold for competition use, but a few road-going versions were made.
In 1986 the Darrian appeared, built in the old Davrian factory in Wales The body was considerably modified and the car became mid-engined.

Davrian cars were designed and built by Adrian Evans with co-designer Mike Parkes. The cars were supplied in kit form from the company originally based in Clapham, London before relocating to Dyfed, Wales.
The kits were designed for the Hillman Imp family of cars and normally powered by 875cc or 998cc Imp engines based on the Coventry Climax, with the finished car weighing only 4cwt ot 440lbs. An underfunded attempt to launch a Ford Fiesta based car resulted in the company entering receivership in 1983. The rights were bought by Will Corry of Lisburn, Northern Ireland to build the Fiesta based Davrian Dragon with a restyled body under the name the Corry Cultra but few were sold. The Darrian was a revival of the original Davrian in the old factory from 1986 with a revised mid-engined car. Like the Davrian, the Darrian is built using a glass-fibre composite monocoque body construction. The engine was usually from a Ford, but the Rover V8 or Vauxhall 16-valve units were options.
This car was built in 1970 using a 1968 Singer Chamois as a donor car, the kit costing £275 and the donor vehicle £50, it has since been modified with a 1580cc Rover engine, VW gearbox, Peugeot 205 GTi brakes, heavy duty rear suspension, tailor made wheels and soft compound tyres, detachable steering wheel, opening rear window (for emergency access), deleted sunroof and pop up headlights.
