Maschinenfabrik Fahr (Fahr Machine Factory) was established by Johann Georg Fahr in Gottmadingen Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in 1870. The first Fahr tractor the F22 was built in 1938, to compliment the companies highly successful self binder. The F22 was designed by Wilfred Fahr and Bernhard Flerlage, powered by a 22hp Duetz diesel engine. Postwar the company had a period of rapid expansion and new models. In 1961, KHD acquired 25% of the shares in Fahr, and the complete acquisition of plants and business operations was completed in 1977. Since 1982 all tractors have had the DEUTZ-FAHR brand.
