Fluidr / A Crab Spider on the Alert 1 - Vancouver, British Columbia by Barra1man

We tend to view gardens as places of beauty and peace. However, among the pretty petals, danger often lurks. This photo shows a tiny white crab spider patiently waiting for its next meal. Sometimes it hides on the underside of the New England asters and then comes out to strike. I do not know what the size ratio of predator to prey is in this case. I saw a bumble bee land on this flower, and the spider, perhaps a third of its size, did not make a move on the bumble bee. ;) The photo was taken in September 2021, with my trusty Olympus digital camera.
