This is another shot from the wilds of my backyard in suburban Vancouver. Stellar Blue Jays are infrequent visitors to our backyard. On a wet and cloudy morning, this one landed on a low branch about eight feet away. I was so startled that I barely had time to turn my camera (my 300mm lens happened to be fully extended) and get a quick head shot or two before it flew off. Although the shot was rushed and the focus not terribly sharp, this photo captures something of this bird's dramatic character. The photo was taken in October 2010, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.
