One of the best places to photograph proteas on Maui is in the vicinity of the upcountry community of Kula. There are several public gardens, the Agricultural Research Station, and a number of commercial growers. This photo was taken in March 2017, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.

Here is another shot from one of my visits to Maui's Agricultural Research Station, which features acres of beautiful proteas. :) Proteas come in so many colours and variations that I have stopped trying to identify the individual types. I came across this interesting flower in a large upcountry garden outside Kula. I found this bloom growing in a small tree. I have seen long strings of these lovely flowers hanging from fair-sized trees elsewhere on the island. The photo was taken in March 2015, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.

I photographed these three crown proteas in a beautiful upcountry garden outside Kula. It showered off and on throughout the afternoon, so I had to dash in and out from the overhanging foliage to photograph the lovely rain drop covered flowers. The shot was taken In February 2014, with my damp but trusty (and still functional) Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.
