Who says global warming is a myth? During our recent vacation on Vancouver Island, we visited the beautiful and world famous Butchart Gardens. In an isolated part of the gardens, I came across several varieties of kangaroo paws. Native to Australia, they like warm climates. I have photographed them on the Hawaiian Island of Maui, but I never expected to find them thriving in Canada. These kangaroo paws were not in some pot put out for the warmer summer months. Rather, they were well established and evidently doing well. The photo was taken in August 2017, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.

Here is another shot of my visit to Butchart Garden where, to my surprise, I discovered that kangaroo paws were growing in the gardens. This photo was taken in August 2017, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.

I photographed this lovely dahlia during a visit to Victoria's beautiful Butchart Gardens. For anyone who is unfamiliar with Butchart Gardens, it is quite large and well maintained. It contains numerous smaller gardens and walks including one featuring a wide range of unusual and large dahlias. The photo was taken in August 2018, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.

This is the next shot in my alien tentacle series. I took these shots of kangaroo paws during a visit to Butchart Gardens. I was surprised to see these flowers now growing in parts of Canada. As you can probably tell, I'm experimenting with different bokehs in this series. For those who may be curious, these are all natural bokehs and not contrived in any artificial way. I came across these beautiful dahlia blossoms during a rainy day visit to Butchart Garden. Although Butchart cultivates many different types of flowers, the dahlia garden is particularly breathtaking in terms of its variety and colours. :) The photo was taken in August 2023, with my trusty Olympus digital camera.
