I had a decent feeling this was going to be my last chance to follow a loaded Utah Rwy coal train. Turned out that I was right. Even though I slept in the back of the car right near the yard in Provo, I never awoke to the train leaving town. A timely text awoke me that he was already past the crest of Soldier Summit - all during predawn darkness.

I grabbed the customary crappy gas station railfan snacks and waited in Helper, UT for him to return westbound.
