Why is today significant in Chicago railroading? On this date in 2007, the Chicago Terminal Railroad ran its first train on the old Chicago and Pacific tracks. Canadian Pacific sold their former Milwaukee Road trackage to the Chicago Terminal and sure enough the first day after the holiday they took their SW8 and ran it down to Big Bay Lumber on Goose Island.

ILSX 900 heads down Cherry St. towards Big Bay Lumber to pick up Chicago Terminal's first profitable car.

I'm using a cheap slide scanner my father got for Christmas to bring you these images. It seemed to work wonderful with my grandparents family photos from the 40s, 50s and 60s, but not so well with my stuff. Oh well.
