Apparently a war memorial, but I can't find any info about it online - can anyone help?

Carved animal on pew, Chancel, St Mary's church, Hawkedon, Suffolk.

As the church guidebook says, these two carvings are "rather fun, but whether these were the emblems of any particular family, or why they feature, is not known".
