Taken 06/05/11 at the Swanange Railway 2011 Diesel Gala: Fresh from overhaul at Eastleigh (towing 73-136 and 73-205 from Eastleigh to Swanage was in effect the loco's test run) the 71A Locomotive Group's loco gleams despite the light levels droppping quickly as the evening sky clouded over. Talen 06/05/11 at the 2011 Seanage Diesel Gala: The sun broke back through briefly as the Class 37 sets out from Swanage. The Gala saw the Class 37 hauling passenger trains for the first time since June 2003 when it hauled a Pathfinder Tours railtour from Salisbury to Crewe.

Taken 06/05/11: I just about had time for a quick stroll up to the Beer Festival at Harmans Cross, purchase a 'carry-out' of Palmers Best and head back down to the station in time for to catch a late runing service back to Swanage.
Taken 06/05/11: Class 56-301 was acquired by the Class 56 Group in February 2011 and provided the motive power for my return to Swanage. This Gala marked the loco's preservation debut and I guess it is trite to say that it seems only yesterday that the Class 56's were new and novel.
