Taken 27/04/12: A rather tame view of the 'Sowing Machine' between Christchurch and Hinton Admiral, as 67-028 was at the sharp end doing the work. The train will reverse at Southampton allowing the Bulleid to work as the train engine from there to Victoria.
Taken 06/06/12 at Longslade Bottom: I've had fairly rubbish attempts at capturing main line steam so far this season and managed to continue this trend by overlooking No. 71000's morning run from Poole to Windsor, so I've just this lame attempt at steam in a gloomy landscape from the return run. Given that this is the first time I've seen the Duke, it was doubly disappointing, but hey ho, there's always next week!

Taken 30/06/12: The ‘Royal Wessex’ was diesel hauled from Brighton to Southall where ‘Tangmere’ took over. The Bulleid is seen here crossing the Hants/Dorset border just west of Hinton Admiral en route to Weymouth. BR Pacific No. 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’ worked the return leg as far as Southall, but I mistimed my trip to the line side in the evening and just missed snapping the Brit’. Doh! Added to that, even though I was off work I overlooked that No. 70013 passed Hinton twice on the Friday, heading to and from Eastleigh for servicing and turning. Double doh!

Taken 15/08/12: Presumably either the extra services to the sailing at Weymouth left insufficient paths or it was considered best to avoid the embarrassment of a steam failure, but either way steam specials through Bournemouth were shelved during both the Olympics and the Paralympics. However, in the gap between the two events, Bournemouth had a bumper Wednesday with ‘Duke of Gloucester’ working from Poole to Oxford in the morning and the ‘Dorset Coast Express’ resuming and ‘Tangmere’ worked the down service. The snap of the Bulleid is not the best, the loco’s arrival coinciding with a heavy downpour.
