Taken on 11/05/12: On Wednesday morning at Hinton Admiral whilst waiting for the 08.30 to Bournemouth I saw the 71A Locomotive Group’s green Class 33 ran through light engine on its way to Kidder’ to collect a convoy of diesels from the Severn Valley Railway for Swanage’s Diesel Gala. Somewhere on the return trip the 33 failed, as did the Class 47 sent to rescue the convoy, which was eventually towed back to Kidder’.
So the Swanage Diesel Gala was without the advertised Warship, Deltic and Class 20s. Class 73-136 was added at short notice for the Saturday and Sunday, but on the Friday BR Standard 4Mt 2-6-4T No. 80104 was pressed into service,
