Taken 11/02/15; Presumably the boiler having been lifted of the frames, suggests the Ivatt's restoration is progressing.

11/02/15: Despite it being two days before the Spring Steam Gala, the 9F still appears to still be 'winterised'.

Taken 11/02/15: No 70000 was built at Crewe in 1951 (so after the 1948 Loco exchanges, but before the 1955 Modernisation Plan) and was the first of 55 examples. On withdrawal in 1966 the loco was earmarked for the National Collection, but was rejected due to poor mechanical condition. However, the loco was purchased by the Britannia Locomotive Group and used on the Severn Valley railway, before moving to the Nene Valley Railway, where the loco was overhauled to mainline standards. 'Out of ticket' in the late 1990s, requiring work to bring it back to steam, No. 70000 was eventually sold to Pete Waterman and stored at Crewe before being sold in 2000 to the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust who returned the to the main line in 2011.

Taken 11/02/15; 'Britannia' arrived at the Mid-Hants Railway in Autumn 2014 with the intention being for the loco to appear, renumbered and renamed as one of BR(WR) members of the class named after GWR Star Class locos, at that year's Autumn Steam Gala. However, the loco was side lined, the cause being, I think, a cracked axle and was repaired at Ropley over the winter and is rostered for the 2015 Spring Steam Gala.

Taken 11/02/15; From 2007 to 2010 'Bittern' was a working member of the M-HR's home fleet before moving to Southall in search of main line work. The loco returned for a Gala in 2011, during the period when it was running as scrapped classmate No. 4494 'Dominion of New Zealand'.
