Scan of a slide taken March 1990: No. 1098 was built in 1923, so is technically a Southern Railway coach built to a South East and Chatham Railway design. Built for London commutter use with ten ten seat compartments, they were known as 'hundred seaters'. Relegated from the London area, No. 1098 was latterly used on the Lymington branch. Withdrawn in 1962 . No. 1098 arrived at the Bluebell the following year.

Taken 28/10/22 at Sheffield Park; Built in 1910 at Ashford with the S&ECR's distinctive 'Birdcage' lookout for the guard. It was converted to a Gauging Van in 1954. and was preserved in 1978 on the Kent and East Sussex Railway before being purchased privately and moving to the Bluebell Railway in 1999. Restoration commenced 2004 and was completed 2011, with the coach winning the Best Coach" Award, in the 2015 Heritage Railway Association Carriage & Wagon Competition.
