Taken 02/03/19; from Shillingstone I headed home with the intention of stopping at Spetisbury where volunteers have tidied up the former Somerset and Dorset Station. However, I wasn't quite sure where the turning is and with the driver behind me seemingly hanging on to my bumper as if we were in a velodrome, I decided not to chance a sudden turn. I decided to leave the station for another day, but the embankment runs parallel to the A350 for a spell and I stopped in a layby on a bend for a couple of snaps. At this point the route is less distinct, but I think this is a cutting that must have lead to an over bridge carrying the A350 over the line.
I'm not yet sure of the accuracy of my thoughts, but it has given me a nudge to try and explore the southern section of the old S&D this year. I appreciate it has been done before, and by better photographers than me, but it might amuse me.

I decided to leave the station for another day, but the embankment runs parallel to the A350 for a spell and I stopped in a layby on a bend for a couple of snaps. This is the point where the embankment (the low ridge behind the tree line) is about to give way to a cutting that presumably took the line under the A350 over bridge.
I'm not yet sure of the accuracy of my thoughts, but it has given me a nudge to try and explore the southern section of the old S&D this year. I appreciate it has been done before, and by better photographers than me, but it might amuse me.

Taken 23/10/19: Over than two obvious set pieces, Bath Green Park Station itself and the bridge seen here, I'm not sure how many reminders of the Somerset and Dorset Railway there are in within Bath itself.
Wikipedia describes this bridge as follows "... immediately outside the station, trains crossed a bridge over the Avon. This bridge is a Town truss, a design patented by the American architect Ithiel Town in 1820 with the aim of reducing the labour costs in constructing timber bridges. From the late 1840s the design was adapted in Britain for construction in wrought iron, and the Avon Bridge is a fine surviving example. Since closure of the railway, the bridge has been adapted to provide vehicular and pedestrian access to Sainsbury's supermarket."

Taken 23/10/19: I never claim originality, but I cannot recall seeing two many photos of the closed Bath Green Park station taken from Midland Bridge Road.
