Abbaye romane des Prémontrés fondée en 1150 par le roi David Ier sur l'emplacement d'un établissement religieux qui existait depuis le VIIe siècle. Elle a été détruite au XVIe siècle après la Réforme, elle est le lieu de sépulture de Walter Scott et de Douglas Haig.
