Coming north was Mainline liveried 58032 on another rake of 32t mgr hoppers.
This is probably heading onto the Mansfield line just round the corner from here, back to one of the many Nottinghamshire pits still operational, 18.10.96.

On my way home I stopped at Treeton on the Midland "Old Road" just east of Sheffield, to see 56110 on 6M13, 08.37 Tees Yard - Etruria steel, 18.10.96.
The works at Etruria, Stoke on Trent closed a year or two later, and much of the site remains a wasteland in 2015. The lines curving off to the left above the middle of the train lead through Catcliffe to Tinsley, the old Sheffield District Railway.

Moving further down the Midland main line, not yet famous 60099 turned up on a loaded mgr, probably bound for Ratcliffe from one of the Yorkshire pits still functioning, 18.10.96.

60054 with petroleum sector flashes heads 6N30, 12.30 Scunthorpe - Lackenby away from the works.
In the background is light engine 56089, one of the first 56's into EWS maroon and gold, 17.10.96.

Continuing from my trip pictures uploaded a couple of days ago.
37719 leads 6G86, 13.26 Leeds Neville Hill - Lindsey oil empties, 17.10.96.
In the distance on the left are the remains of the hump shunting yard here, which was one of the first to be fitted with Dowty retarders. On the right is the front of 56135, just arrived on another load of coal from Immingham.
