Seen a mile or so south of Whittlesey on the B1040, the Delaine Heritage Trust's Leyland Tiger/ Duple Dominant formed the 10.45 departure to Ramsey.

I doubt if there is one telegraph pole in the Fens that stands straight, with land subsidence and wind across the flatness both contributing to them leaning. The road along here is abysmal, anything much over forty mph and you will be very likely to catch the car underside on one of the humps caused by subsidence, as did at least one of the buses!

Carrying on with some shots from the 2018 Fenland Busfest based around Whittlesey.

Seen here is the beautifully restored Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympian, finished in the livery of local operator Viscount.

It was a pity that this vehicle only made one of its scheduled three runs around the 341 route.

This Volvo Citybus/ Alexander RV on route 341 is seen heading east along the B1040 by the old River Nene.

The vehicle carries the livery borne in its time with Dews of Somersham, before entering preservation, having been new to Burnley & Pendle and also worked for Lincolnshire Road Car.

I was fortunate not to be bowled by traffic on a couple of occasions here around lunchtime, this was a bit close for comfort!

09.32 and ready for the off!

A line of participating vehicles in the main street in the town, which was closed for the day to other traffic.

I think the two chaps with bags and boxes are part of the team that organised this splendid event, the boxes containing the invaluable programmes.

This Daimler Fleetline/ Roe was new to Grimsby and Cleethorpes in 1977, though perhaps not in this livery.

It is seen here with the 11.15 service from Whittlesey on route 341 to Ramsey.

A good thing it was a dry day!
