I haven't been out much at all in recent weeks as I don't really like heat!

Yesterday I did manage to catch this in a nice bit of sunshine, skirting the edge of Blackburn, Lancashire.

Complete with Rosebay Willowherb in profusion by the lineside, it is the 12.57 Carlisle to Chirk logs, running almost exactly to time. Unfortunately the same loco that was on this service when I saw it back in June!

With the re-opening a while ago of the Northwest to South curve near Todmorden, there is now a through service along here from Blackburn. This is the 12.19 to Kirkby (Liverpool).

This is the 11.42 Leeds - Chester Northern service.

Unfortunately the westbound Biomass empties, 4M36, passed in full dull behind 66780, so I shall have to come back here again. The Wilton - Knowsley Binliner didn't run either, so not a great day.

I managed to find this spot on Wednesday, although driving down the long track from the northwest side is not something I would do again!

This is the 08.03 Liverpool Biomass Terminal - Drax Power Station.

How cutting down trees on the other side of the Atlantic, shredding them and then shipping them to the UK for burning can be said to be "environmentaly friendly" is totally beyond me!

On the skyline at right, I believe the tower in the distance is part of Rochdale's magnificent Town Hall.
