Jimmy and I spent 3 1/2 weeks in Asia in June, 2011, travelling with our friend Bob. We spent 4 days in Hong Kong, 1 day in Macau, 5 days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, an accidental overnight in Bangkok, Thailand due to missing a flight connection, 4 days in Guilin/Yangshuo, China, 5 days in Sichuan, China, 3 days in Hangzhou, China, and overnight in Shanghai to fly back to the U.S. Places we went are delineated in red.
Hong Kong has a bustling night life, especially on pedestrian-only streets.
We ate at an outside table on Temple Street, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The dinner included Snails in a thin sauce, which we ate with a long toothpick stuck into the shell to get out the meat; Long Shrimp in a curry sauce, which you bit into the shell, sucked out the meat, and spat the shell onto the table; Razor Clams; Bamboo Fish with Preserved Lemon, Bean Curd with Pork Topping (hard to eat with chopsticks), Steamed Broccoli, and Honey Roast Pork. There was a roll of toilet paper in the center of the table, intended to be used in lieu of napkins.
