controlled lower level tracks in GCT. burned down in 1986 due to an electrical fire. signal wiring contacted third rail power. LIRR jamaica tower suffered the same fate. both now replaced by computer control. 1984 photo.

in 1955, a ballistic missile was set up in GCT, only to find out it was a LITTLE too tall as can be seen by the small puncture hole next to one of the stars in the constellation ceiling. From souvenir picture.
