Photographers love breaking storms in Yosemite Valley. We were especially lucky to have the clouds break at end of day, providing some spectacular light on Lost Arrow Spire, with Upper Yosemite Falls in shadow to the left. There is a light dusting of snow on the upper elevations, more snow and ice in the valley.

Sundown at the Bosque del Apache brings the sandhill cranes back to the flooded fields for the evening. I love the soft color in this tranquil scene with two cranes flying in to join their brethren.

A sweeping view of Rocky Mountain National Park from the Trail Ridge Road. The billowing cumulus clouds and virga are classic Rocky Mountain summer weather. The green meadows and small lakes of Horseshoe Park are home to bighorn sheep, elk and other wildlife, and they are a wetland sanctuary for wide variety of birds.
