These boats remain stuck in the mud of Chichester Harbour although the tide is coming in to release them. About two hours after this photograph was taken all of the green areas in the foreground and in the middle of the shot were under several feet of water. High tide - an amazing natural phenomenon which takes place twice a day and has done so for millions if not billions of years!
Chichester Harbour has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Behind it are some of the hills of the South Downs National Park which only came into operation in 2011.
