This cottage in the Hampshire village of Wherwell dates from the 1500's. The date above the window states 1516.
The building is grade II listed meaning it has legal protection from demolition or substantial alteration without prior consent from the local authority.
The village of Wherwell is an ancient settlement on the River Test dating back more than 1,000 years. It contains many old buildings and in this road alone there are several thatched cottages.
