Recently drove through the Warwickshire village of Barton and photographed this cottage. The name intrigued me and is clearly derived from the red post box located in the front wall of the house.
Although the property appears to be of some age, it does not show as a listed building. However, I have come across an old photograph of Barton which shows the cottage around 1930. A sign hanging on the front of the building advertises Lyons Tea and the letterbox is clearly visible as it is now. It is quite possible this was the village shop which may well have included a post office.
