User / Blue York / Bricks at number 6 Shambles, York
Allan T Adams BA FSA FSAI / 5,198 items
A new study under way. I have drawn a wider view of this building but felt it would be a good subject to add to a small series of shops in Shambles, one of York's most visited streets. The building was erected in 1781, the bricks being typical of the local produced stock which employed local clay, the bricks being fired in clamps, earth covered piles of bricks. These were used from medieval times, York City Corporation operating some of the first works in the late 14th century. Drawn with a Pentel GraphGear 0.3mm pencil and Tombow Mono Zero eraser.
