Today we drove back to Abeytas where there's abandoned houses. Located in Socorro County in 1950 Abeytas had a population of 10, by 2010 the population increased to 56 (don't you just hate overcrowding) and that is about all I know about Abeytas. Someone must've been living in this house in 1988 or so the calendar indicates. It was fascinating looking round in every house it just looks like everything was just left. Left for maybe kids to come by turn the places over and wreck who knows!

Cat Stevens - Teaser and the Firecat. Released in 1971. One original copy, without cover, found here in Abeytas but it's a little warped. Not sure if the Realistic turntable still works anyways :) Thankful for mp3's and ipods and the likes!

No door which makes it a bit draughty but when you got go you got go! You don't come across too many outhouses these days so this was a bonus! I'm guessing this was a communal outhouse as it seems to be strategically placed to serve all the houses. The last time we stopped at Abeytas it was hard to poke around the abandoned houses it was all overgrown. Being winter makes it so much easier.

As the door is propped there maybe it was the owners intention to add another door? Nah I think it's just a hole in the wall. Abeytas NM certainly has me wondering.
