In WA, this is placed in Malvaceae. I am following the Queensland Herbarium interpretation, which would place it in Byttneriaceae.

Rulingia was previously placed in Sterculiaceae.

Recently, two completely opposite reinterpretations occurred in WA and Qld. In Qld, the family Sterculiaceae was broken up into several families whereas in WA this family and a few others were placed wthin a broadly interpreted Malvaceae.
