D200 the pioneer Class 40 back in service having been withdrawn is seen at Llandudno Junction on what I think was a Crewe - Llandudno service 2nd September 1986.
The long building in the distance above the loco is Llandudno Jcn shed.

40009 was captured at Newton Heath depot, Manchester on the 25th November 1984. In the mid 80's I would have a drive over to Manchester and try my luck at having a trip around the shed at Newton Heath which would have a good selection of loco's stabled over the weekend.

This has to be my first photograph of a diesel loco.. Not very sharp due to poor camera but I think it is English Electric Type 4 D247 (laterly Tops Class 40) working east through Mirfield station around 1966-67 and most certainly I took this the same day as the 8f 48084. Of note is the brake tender behind the loco, also the two bay platforms can be seen.

About 18 years separate this image and the first one I took at Mirfield.
40047 shatters the peace as it powers through Manchester Victoria and up Miles Platting Bank with an Oil Train 0n 13th August 1984.
