The demolition has begun of the iconic building, the slate roof been the first to be removed.
The Coliseum was built in 1931 by entrepreneur Captain WE Pritchard. It was run by Welshpool-based Paramount Picture Theatres until 1984 when it first ran into trouble. A new company was created offering £1 shares, and succeeded in raising the £45,000 needed to buy the building.
