Anita and I and another friend had been to see this bridge in West Virginia several years ago, but at that time we did not know about the loop road that will take you to the bottom of the gorge. I think we are about half way down here.
Per Google: At time of construction, the New River Gorge Bridge's arch made it the longest steel arch bridge in the world, a title it held until 2003 with the construction of China's Shanghai's Lupu Bridge. It is currently the longest single-span steel arch bridge in the United States and the third highest bridge in the country.
I liked the visual I saw on a sign there, you could put the Washington Memorial monument under it and put two Statue of Liberties on top of that and you would still not reach the bottom of the bridge!
I left two chicken eggs on the rock. Why you ask? Because I discovered them in my purse! Seriously. Sometimes when I shut the chickens in at night & check for eggs, I am stopping on my way to the house and have my vehicle. So for safe keeping I place them in my purse and I guess I totally forgot they were there. Kept them fairly safe for a Long time! This was day two of our camping trip! LOL
