There sure does seem to be a lot of these around this year! Makes me smile to watch them floating through the air! I may or may not be "missing in action" for the next week or so as the computer is going in to be worked on. I have the iPad so should be able to keep up with everyone that way, but as far as posting photos... I am working on a way to do that! :)

After our fabulous lunch stop at the Pink Cadillac Diner, we were traveling this back road heading towards Lynchburg Virginia and we both spotted a pull over that looked interesting. There were two very dilapidated picnic tables under some nice shade trees in a meadow. We wandered about for a bit, stretching our legs and I spotted this pretty Painted Lady. Normally Anita doesn't allow much time for me to go off chasing butterflies but this time, she was busy trying to pick stick tights off her socks so I had a few minutes to wait for the butterfly to settle someplace where I could take a decent shot. Anita never did get the stick tights off (Beggars Lice). She ended up taking the socks off and I pulled them off for her while she was driving us down the road. It's what a good co-pilot does. ;)

I saw several of these along the same stretch of gravel road as the previous photo. I believe it's a Monarch and not a look alike. :)

I think these are Great White butterflies. The males have one spot and the females have two.
