I'm Home! It's always nice to go away on a little vacation but it's also really nice to be home and sleeping in my own bed again! :) This view of the Erie Canal was taken in Albion New York and Albion has the most intact buildings that were build at or about the same time as the canal. I really enjoyed the architecture of the town and of course the views off of this bridge!

A view of the American Falls from the Canadian side at night. That is the Rainbow Bridge crossing from the USA to Canada. The American Falls have red white and blue lights, not sure if they are ever changed, but the Canadian side uses lots of different lights on Horseshoe Falls...... It was a bit rainy this night but still beautiful!

The Genesee Museum is a living history museum near Rochester New York. I've been there three times and see something different every time. One of the big attractions for me this year was a group of people dressed in period Bavarian Alps type costumes playing Alpine Horns. The sound was just glorious! This lady was inside a period log cabin and was preparing some type of beans for cooking. It was very dark inside the cabin. All of the buildings in this village were brought from all around the state and reassembled to preserve them and for educational purposes. We spent the whole afternoon here and did not see but about 1/3 of everything! :)

This park is in New York state and is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the East. There are a series of 3 falls, Upper, Middle and the Lower falls. This one is the Upper falls and is spanned by a bridge used by trains. There is a lovely trail that climbs fairly gently up to the top. This is the Genesee River.

This day was one for the memory books! Starting with photos in front of Attica state prison (famous for it's 1971 prison riots) and being warned in no uncertain terms that this was frowned on. Off then to visit Beaver Meadows nature center and some of it's delights and ending the day with our visit to Letchworth State Park. Just as we were leaving the park Anita received the call that her Dad was in seriously bad health and she needed to come home. At which point I promptly got us lost and we wound up driving through a cow barn where all the heifers were having dinner .... well, that part was Anita's doing! And the one man who was working this bovine eatery did not speak English. Eventually we worked out where we were and traveled on, all the while being amazed at the beauty of the sky all around us and horrified at the situation we found ourselves in. A sweet and sour day.
