Better than camping? I don't know, but it was a unique experience and I loved it! Our tiny airstream trailer was parked near the waters of the Greenbrier River in West Virginia. It had a privacy fence all around, Air Conditioning (Yes!!) and all the amenities. Here you see the gazebo with the hot tub which Anita made full use of. On the opposite end is a small area with a bench and fire pit. We gave it the name of the Cozy Cottage which it was and it was a perfect base camp for all our wandering and exploring.

We were Glamping.... but not quite as upscale as this! One of the first things we did was to pay a visit to The Greenbrier which is a "National Historic Landmark and a resort since 1778. The natural mineral springs drew the first guests over 235 years ago and continue to lure visitors to the 11,000 acre luxury retreat including 27 American Presidents and assorted Royalty and celebrities.
It offers 710 rooms, including 33 suites and 96 guest and estate homes. The Greenbrier has 10 lobbies, 40+ meeting rooms and a complete conference center facility.
It offers exclusive services and amenities such as championship golf, fine dining, and includes horse back riding, golf, tennis, and swimming. You will also find designer boutiques, and the mineral spa.
I know I was rather awed by the grandeur and the glitz of the place!! We went inside and got a few nice photos too so will show a couple of those later on.
Off to another adventure with Anita today and I think we are heading North this time to Winchester at the head of the Shenandoah Valley and beyond perhaps... Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

This is part of the ballroom at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia. The place was Immense and very ornate. Can't say I love the colors used. That is me being reflected in the mirror at the far end. This is not some place I would want to stay but it was fun to walk around and look at it. Amazing to me what the rich and famous think is worth spending their money on and a far cry from our little "Cozy Cottage" on the riverbank!

After touring the jaw dropping splendor of the interior of the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia, we drove around some of the grounds (it covers 11,000 acres!). We saw tennis courts, swimming pools and this church where the sun was filtering down through the trees and lighting up the stain glass windows. Seriously, if you wanted a complete vacation package, this place had it all covered and you would never need to leave the grounds! Well, it wouldn't be for me, but apparently plenty of people can and do afford it.

LOL... this fellow was the rose inspector at the train station in Alderson West Virginia. A quaint little station painted an eye popping tangerine orange and open for business on Mon, Wed. and Friday. It stood out in that little village of old and gentile buildings and was the only place Anita ever found in WVA where her phone would work! I think the rose passed it's inspection. ;)
