Programme cover for the 8th British Grand Prix held at Aintree on July 16th 1955 and won by Stirling Moss his first formula 1 win..he was to win again in 1957 at Aintree but never won at Silverstone or even finished a GP there...Fangio was champion for the 3rd time and would win 5 times in all driving for 4 different manufacturers which stands as a record still.

This was the race where allegedly Fangio allowed Moss to win after being leader for so long as he realised how much that would mean to Moss to win his home GP...whether that be true or not it would be typical of Fangio who apart from being the dominant force in motor racing then was also a great sportsman....Anyway Moss won with Fangio 2nd,Kling 3rd and Tarulli 4th all driving Mercedes Benz...Fangio went on to be world champion that season.
