35018 formerly British India Line after 8 years rusting away at Barry docks awaiting entry to Woodhams scrapyard.However in 1980 it was rescued for preservation at the Mid Hants railway....Sep 1973

Woebegone unrebuilt Battle of Britain 34073 249 Squadron rusts quietly away at Barry in Sep 1973 where it was to remain for another 15 years...it has been saved but never been fully restored as far as i know.

Duke of Gloucester at Barry Docks and shorn of its Caprotti valve gear which was to be the only part of the loco that was to be preserved..fortunately the whole thing was preserved but at this date Sep 1973 that was far from certain.(scanned slide)
