Steller Sea Lions on rocks in Glacier Bay. Mt. Fairweather in the background. It rises from sea level to over 15,000 feet. It is called Mt. Fairweather not because it has fair weather but the local natives would not believe there was to be good weather until they could see the mountain.

A side glaicer to glacier bay. The water drops to very deep levels at the glacier's edge. The Grand Pacific Glacier, the big one here, is now advancing and it is just touching the marjorie on the right side of the photo.
The Grand Pacific has retreated some 70 miles in the last 500 years when it totally filled Glacier Bay. The advances and retreats of this glacier have happened some 5 or 6 times since the last ice age.

Moutains of the Tatenshini-Alsek National Park in Canada. Taken from the Chilkat Valley in Southeast Alaska.
This is the location for the world's largest congregation of eagles, between 3 and 4 thousand eagles gather on a 3 mile stretch of the Chilkat River to feed on a late run of Chum Salmon.
While it is one of my favorite places, I do have a lot of photos here that look a lot like the inside of a cloud.
