Joy Smith of Sherwood Knitting Mills on Williamstown Rd. The mill started in 1930 and was run by the Spicer family for 3 generations.Joy started work there as a 15 year old, retiring well into her seventies. It specialised in knitted football jumpers.The business was sold in 2007 and remained operational in Yarraville until 2009.
The mill has now been demolished, the site is a weed infested wasteland waiting for some god awful 'toy town' apartments to come and stay.
